I divide my UX process into 4 steps:

1. DISCOVER | RESEARCH

The goal is to fully understand the problem. During the meeting with the stakeholders I ask the questions to make sure I understand the problem. I applying Field and Desk research methods, and use empathy as a tool to explore and learn users pains and pleasures, motivations, wishes and frustrations. The techniques I use are:

  • Competitive/Comparative Analysis
  • Contextual Inquiry
  • User Interviews
  • Surveys
  • Heuristics Analysis

2. DEFINE | INSIGHTS

I synthesize the collected data by the listing of elements, characteristics, defining areas of interests, acknowledgment of extremes, cluster the subjects into topics, then create Personas. I define limitations to the scope and focus on what matters most. The techniques I use:

  • User Maps/User Journey
  • MoSCoW Method
  • Job Stories  (When _____ , I want to _____ , so I can _____ .)
  • Affinity Mapping
  • Persona Creation

3. DEVELOP | IDEATION

I keep an open mind and apply yes, and… rather than a no or yes, but… mentality. Then, I evaluate ideas through impact/feasibility matrixes. The techniques I use are:

  • Usability Testing
  • Design Charrette (Design Studio)
  • Sketching
  • Prototyping
  • Wireframing

4. DELIVER | PROTOTYPE

I evaluate then execute a potential MVP (Minimum Viable Product) solution. I create High-Fidelity mockups and then apply the Agile approach, using the 3 steps:

  1. Build/Prototype
  2. Test/Analyse
  3. Iterate/Repeat
